Another Movie Night

It's the day after the Quince and I basically slept all day. I only had 3 hours of sleep before getting up and helping decorate. I went to bed at a decent time and took sleeping pills, but alas! They did not work. So now I'm here, typing out a post at 11:05 PM.

It almost felt like being hungover! I was so exhausted. My legs and feet are sore from dancing on gravel! But, you know what's a good remedy? Breakfast for dinner. I whipped up some eggs and bacon in the kitchen and chowed down. It was so damn good, just what I needed.

I have the T.V. in the living room all to myself, so I took the opportunity to watch some more classic horror films! After my delicious meal, I made myself a cup of hot chocolate. My mother found another Swiss Miss hot chocolate Keurig box with a salted caramel flavor. I had to try it out! I also had all of my fixings: Whipped cream, marshmallows, and sprinkles. I was able to dress it up!

It was very delicious, 10/10! I love hot beverages, they are so comforting. There are plenty of films to choose from, I tried skimming through my mental library to decide which ones to watch. All these streaming platforms have films that I paid to rent last month. So annoying!! I just had to freaking wait, man! Anyways, I chose my movies and sat down with my hot chocolate.

The first film I watched was Poltergeist (1982)! I tried looking for free streaming, but no such luck on my Roku TV. I knew I'd be able to watch it on the living room TV., so I put it on while I made my dinner. I have never watched Poltergeist all the way through, I've only ever caught certain scenes. And guess what? Poltergeist was a really good movie. Who would've thunk? I thought the Freeling couple smoking weed together on their bed was really cute. I really liked Diane as a character and a mom. The funniest part of the whole film is Steve yelling at his boss, Lewis:

You son of a bitch! You moved the cemetery, but you left the bodies, didn't you? You son of a bitch, you left the bodies and you only moved the headstones! You only moved the headstones! Why? Why?

That sure did make me laugh! Anyways, a while back I watched the 2015 remake and it fucking blows. It is greatly inferior to the original. And that's that!

The next movie I watched after that was Carrie (1976). This is a film I watched a very long time ago, so my memory of the film is a bit hazy. Let me tell you, there is something so charming about 70's horror films. You light a movie like that today and they kill your whole family. Everything was so saturated and fuzzy, very pleasing to the eye.

Carrie ended up being a very hard watch for me, it pained me. It hurt me to watch Carrie suffer and be abused by her mother. It gave me the same feeling I get when I watch Mommy Dearest. I know that film is very campy and funny to a lot of people, but ain't shit funny to me, man. Don't even joke, lad. With that being said, Piper Laurie played the fuck out of that role. There won't be another performance like hers, I'll tell you what.

I have seen the 2015 film as well... I guess it was supposed to be a modern remake for the teens of that era. Which was my crowd. Eh. I'm also aware of the new miniseries streaming on Amazon. Not watching that!!

I only watched 2 films that night, but I want to mention the films I watched during the last week. I watched both the 1989 and 2019 versions of Pet Sematary. I also watched the 89 version a long time ago, so my memory needed a refresher. I forgot how funny I found Gage! His little "evil" laughs and his "angry" face humored me as a kid. And just like every other movie, the original is always better than the remake. The 2019 film was so hollow and boring. It seems to be that way for all of these 2010's remakes, just hollow and boring!

So yeah, I've been watching some pretty good horror films this month. I'm really enjoying myself! The hot chocolate and baked goods really make the experience worthwhile. There are lots of things coming up this week :3 I'm making vampire cupcakes this Wednesday! Complete with red frosting, vampire fangs and a blood packet. I'm also going to watch Resident Evil (2026) this Friday, woo hoo!!
